I have a problem with my computer, I get this message: System Configuration Error, I already tried to recovery my computer but it was unsuccessfull, every time I tried to recover my computer after completing I was getting message System configuration Error it would not let me go on desctop or to registe myself, I even tried to go in Safe Mode but at the end it said: You haven’t fully installed setup.
I called the engineer from Pc World the Technic guys. The engineer came and brought some CD with him but unfortunatelly he could not fix my computer either, so he said he will be back to get some other CD to repair my computer, but I never heard of him again at that day, so I called the Technic Guys, who I asked them to call this engineer guy who haven’t called me all day that I have been waiting so he could come to fix my computer. The Technic Guys said to me that this engineer has made another booking for you in 2 of January its like next 2 weeks I must wait. I need a help please

Well. The other night I downloaded that stupid f’ing Virutagirl thing. I found a version of VG2 and installed and then uninstalled it. I then found an installer that I had downloaded from the official site of the HD version about a year ago. Anyway. I went to uninstall it and despite it (the HD one) disappearing from the program list, it was still on my pc. That version also said something about needing an update and it won’t work unless I update it. Anylway,I uninstalled it using the uninstall. exe which seemed to do the trick. I then decided to do a system restore to try and rid it completely, but it hung on the initialising screen (the one before it says shutting down)I held in the power button to turn it off. I then turned it on and pressed F8 and clicked on repair your computer and tries to restore it from there. I left it for 4 hours, but it just said restoring files. So no I don’t know what to do to make it work again. I tried a full scan with MSE but all it found was some sort of Java vulnerability. Is there anything I can do? My PC didn’t come with restore discs, and I’m not too sure making new ones now would be a good idea. Please help me. How can I make system restore work again?And for the record, I have a Sony Vaio VPCEC1M1E with Win 7 HP

OK, I’ve seen loads of posts by people who have lost their System Restore and I have tried all suggestions but still have the following problem: I can create a System Restore point OK but when I try and roll back to a previous point, it goes through the motions and, when the desktop screen reappears, I get the message that System Restore failed to do a restore. I also checked out a log error and found a report of “error message 8206″

So far I have tried,
SAFE MODE REBOOT – no good,
DISABLE/ENABLE RESTORE – no good
FIDDLING WITH “VOLUME SHADOW SETTING” – no good.

So, what is there left to do??? I’m at my wits end. I did create a system image a few weeks ago but, for all I know, the System Restore problem might have been there when I did it.

I do NOT have any installation disks as I bought the PC off someone with Windows 7 already installed. All I have is a System Repair disk that I created early on (maybe the problem was not there when I created the disk months ago).

Is there any way I can download / rebuild the original registry settings even though I don’t have installation disks??

On a slightly different point, am I too late now to do a disk partition??. Windows was already loaded on my PC and I added all my programs & files. However, they are on the one c: drive. Ideally I would like a separate partition for the OS but I fear it’s too late as it’s all mixed in together and I wouldn’t be able to separate out the OS from all the other things. Is this correct??

Jayzel – II think that site you have given is a bogus site, pretending to look like it’s a Microsoft site. Personally I wouldn’t download anything from it – God knows what viruses I might get!!!
