Hey guys, last month I decided to restore my PC back to factory settings just to clean it up a bit, but instead of becoming more efficient it has actually gotten worse.
My PC stops responding when doing the simplest of tasks such as browsing the net, opening files and playing movies directly from my hard disk drive.
When playing movies the video stops but the audio continues for around 5 seconds and then the video either skips to where the audio is or the movie would freeze altogether.
I’ve no idea whats wrong, I think it might have started happening after I had a problem completing “Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330)” update. When I installed this update I was asked to restart my PC but it never did so I used the “Startup Repair Tool” and managed to get it to start again.
Ever since then my PC has been slow, I even tried another factory setting restore but my PC still seems to be slow.
Any help would be much appreciated.
I can play games such as Battlefield 2 no problem but every other task has just become a joke.
I have
Intel Duo Core 6300 @ 1. 86GHz 1. 87GHz
Nvidia Geforce 7600 GT
2GB RAM
PS
After my 2nd factory setting restore I only updated my PC up to before the Service Pack 1 update so it wouldn’t corrupt my system again.
Yes I’ve already cleaned the registry with Uniblue Registry Booster, found 360 problems and all were fixed. Do i need to format both my (C;) drive and (D;) Recovery Drive? After I do this is there anyway to install my genuine vista that came with my PC, I wasn’t provided with a vista disc.
The factory setting restore is the one that comes with windows, before i did the restore it asked me if i wanted to backup my data before continueing, I clicked “No” thinking that a factory restore is the most healthy thing you could do for a PC. When I do a factory restore it takes me to the screen where your asked to create a user account. I get all the original software that came with the system the first day I bought the PC.
