I have an 80 gig iPod classic. It has run pretty smoothly until very recently. When I tried to sync it, it wouldn’t connect to my PC, and when I tried it several times, the PC eventually told me that the iPod was corrupt.
Since then, every time i try to sync it, the iPod syncs around 350 of my 800-ish songs, then tells me that the iPod cannot sync and tells me that an erro has occured. These are always numbers in braquets, like (-69). There have been around ten different numbers.
Is it beyond repair? Please help!!

i have windows live messenger and for the last week everytime i log on it says error , i do eventually get on after runnin test and repair , i have un-installed it and re installed it and its still the same , and today every time i get an email i go to email open it and i get booted right off email and it closes down , i have no pc probs no virus’s as have ran all checks , is anyone else gettin these problems , i can get on any other website , with no problems at all has anyone got any idea why this is happening im running windows vista , the pc is only 6 weeks old and i have had no problems at all also i have just discovered i can log onto windows live in my husbands name , first time with no probs , and i can open emails no probs , so why is tthis happening in just my name

The laptop in question is an Eee PC 900 that came with Linux, which I deleted and put Windows XP on. Up till Service pack 3.

There are the following icons in the task bar: Internet connection working (Speed: 2,7 mbps, connected for 1:18:01, packets sent like 73. 000, packets received 11. 000), then there is the little icon for the wireless, which says “Wireless connection tiscali” and Speed 54. 00 mbps, Signal strength: excellent, and Status: Connected.

So the wireless is CONNECTED and working, the tiscali box is plugged in and that connection is WORKING (packets received, etc. ). Why is the internet not working when you start a browser???
When I start mozilla firefox it says “The connection was reset; the connection to the server was reset while the page was loading”. When I start IE the page reads: “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage; What you can try: it appears you are connected to the internet, but you might want to try to reconnect to the Internet. ”

I have tried everything, using “repair” to try and repair the connections, using just wireless, using just the direct connection, disabling the firewall, enabling the firewall with all kinds of exceptions, calling tiscali (they had no idea what the problem was). . .

If you can solve this dilemma you are a genius! Please can you suggest something I haven’t tried? I am mystified as to why 2 connections are established but the browsers themselves cannot connect to the internet.

PS: my hair is already grey from this. . .
I forgot to mention that my flatmates computer (which I am writing on) is connected perfectly.

That thing about the router/modem makes sense, but how do I disconnect a modem? Its not a seperate box, its inside the computer. Do I disconnect it by right-clicking on it somewhere, or de-install and re-install it?
Yep, I’ve got the connection name, password, WEP, everything. And it IS connected, it says so (it says “connected” and “firewalled”, but it just won’t run the internet browsers.

I need help please !!!!!?
right here’s my situation. i have a pc that had both windows xp on 1 hdd and i had windows 7 on another hdd now i have disconnected the xp every time i boot up it says

“windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration. could not read from selected boot disk. check boot path and disk hardware. please check the windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and you hardware manuals for additional information”

the reason i did this is because i wanted to format a hard drive from a laptop so i took the hard drive out and connected it to my pc which was running windows 7 and formatted it and installed windows xp on to it. i did this by booting from disk and installing it on the partition that was the laptop hdd now i have disconnected it and tried to boot my pc like normal and that error comes up. i know my hdd has everything on it still because when i try and repair windows with a windows 7 disc and try to locate drives it shows me all my files if you get me

any help would be really appreciated

oh and i have set the bios to boot from the hdd with windows 7 on but to no success.

p. s why did i remove a hdd to my pc to format i hear you ask well it was a netbook pc with no optical drive lol

it doesnt have a jumper pin in at all i have been setting priorities through the bios but there is no jumper on the hard drive

I’m trying to save my photos to D drive on XP Home running on a Fujitsu-Siemens Scenic P PC. I’m inserting the DVD disk and then:-
“Start”- “My Computer”-”open folder”-”Select file”-Rt click mouse-”Send to” and only the floppy disk icon appears in the box.
If I try to do it by:_
AS ABOVE. . . . . “Select file”- “Edit”- “Copy to selected folder” -Click on “shared pictures” under the DVD D drive icon the Computer says “insert Disk”
If I try to copy a file from the same disk by:_Inserting the DVD disk and:_
“Start”- “My Computer”- click on DVD icon Again I get “insert disk”.
I was given the (blank) disk by the engineer in my local computer repair shop as he said it should be compatable with my disk drive. It seems to me that the software or hardware is not recognising that the disk is in the drive.
Am I describing an inherent error in XP Home and/ or Fujitsu Siemens Scenic P or is my “Pride & Joy” broken.
Help or guidance much appreciated.

Im on my works laptop as my home pc wont start properly. Please forgive the fact that I am not very techy and need a bit of an ‘idiots guide’ !
I havent installed anything new software wise onto my pc but my son was downloading free music from a share ware type site and its just after this we got the problem.
When you start the pc you see a message saying
“select ‘tab’ to show post screen, [del] to enter setup
then it goes to another screen that is black and that has something called a PCI device listing and at the bottom of the screen it says Error loading operating system_

Ive been advised to use the mesh recovery disc but im rather embarassed to say i dont know how or what to do.
Ive called a local guy that does a mobile repair servce but he cant fit me in for weeks and who knows what he will charge so id be really grateful for some advice and maybe i can have a go myself

I know this probably sounds a stupid question but just under 3 weeks ago I purchased a Brand New Advent 5311 Laptop From Pc World. It was working fine until 1 hour ago. I was in the middle of typing a word document when the laptop beeped, the screen went funny and some error messages came up then the laptop straight away shut down. Now the laptop wont boot up again. I have receipt obviously and it is well with in guarantee. I am rather annoyed and angry to say the least as you would expect a brand new laptop to work for more than 3 weeks. I want to go back and complain and take laptop back and get it repaired or replaced. Is it ok to take the laptop back to Pc world or do I need to phone and send it some where else like the manufacturer for example. Its just that I know that some shops won’t except laptops or computers back even if faulty they tell you to contact manufacture. I have looked in all the manuals that came with laptop and it doesn’t saying anything about what to do or who to contact if laptop developes a fault. I was going to take laptop back to store in morning. But wanted to check. Have any of you had to take a laptop or computer back to pc world. Will they sort it out in store. I believe Advent is there own brand. One other thing Although I have only had the laptop 3 weeks there is already quite a lot of data on hard drive which at the moment I obviously can’t access. As the laptop is still well with in guarantee when they repair it or replace with they recover my data and will I have to pay for it to be recovered. It would seem very unfair to have to pay to have my data recovered.

Any advice would be much appreciated

yes I did charge up battery. I was actually running it on mains at the time when this happened. Battery was fully charged though.
Also when I say it won’t re boot up. It will switch on and displays the advent screen, It then trys to boot up but then say it can’t as theres an error and then it freezes at a black screen. I have ried the repair options that it gives when it trys to boot up but when you select one nothing happens and the laptop just freezes.
