I bought my laptop this year in January and about 2 months ago it crashed and the interface broke, so nothing responded. I tried to do restore and factory restore but both froze. I could not find the reciept so took it to a small repair shop. They did not remove the back and said it was probably a RAM issue. But I found the reciept and took it back to the manufacturer’s. They sent it off for repair and low and behold I received it back a month later, when they said it would take 7 working days, 10 maximum.
They blamed it on snow, although we only got snow in the past week and not 4 weeks ago when it was sent and worked on. Anyway, they found the issue was the hard drive so they put a new one in.
I get my laptop back and it finally works. However, I turn it on the next day and it has to be reset FOUR times for it to load everything correctly.
Also they fitted it with a TOTALLY DIFFERENT hard drive and the button to open the disk tray would not work.
I turn my computer off and it has to do 85 updates.
1 hour later it finishes and I turn the laptop back on. The disk tray button finally works, obviously the updates updated the drivers.
But the whole laptop is not running as efficiently before and the disk tray is wonky as in it doesn’t fit right. You have to spend 5 minutes alligning the disk tray for it to even close.
My complaint is that first of all the customer service at the store was terrible. Worst I have ev er received. The man did not make any eye contact with myself or my Dad and he mumbled everything. He said 7 – 10 days which was totally unreal even if the repairs people were the most efficient. It was NEVER going to be returned withing 7 to 10 days. So I was left without a laptop which I use for work and college for 4 weeks whereas he gauranteed be 10 days at the latest.
The disk tray fitted is totally different and does not fit correctly. You have to allign it to close it. And it’s wobbly on the side of the laptop. It’s a botched job and I am not happy with the outcome.
They had for 4 weeks and still have made it not a very usable PC. Laptop does not run as good as before and lags a lot.
Do I have grounds for my complaint to be heard and acknowledged? Also I have my reciept and I am not allowing them to send my laptop away again for another month so I am left with nothing and get even further behind with my studies. Am I in position to ask them for a refund, my laptop is still under warranty, or can I request them give me a new laptop to same amount as this one?

in addition to this: we also got a phone call from the store saying my laptop was fixed and that it would be delivered to home the next day between 1230 and 1630, so my whole family purposely stayed in so that we would not miss the delivery because it had been a whole month. we get a phone call from the store at 1615 saying we have your laptop in store and its ready for collection. i tell them we were told its getting home delivered. and they said, no we never do home delivery on repair laptops.
