okk. my English teacher gave us the option to write a 100 word essay, no going over. Hi everyone!

I’m thinking of starting a part time business in pc repair. I currently have a full time job in IT but have recently passed my A+ exam meaning that i am a certified pc technician, as a result i’m interested in starting a business for out of hours i. e. a few nights a week and on a saturday as i think there could be a market for this. I’ve starting researching the different aspects of this idea however i am struggling to find information regarding tax/vat/national insurance and payment methods.

If anyone could give me some advice on the following, it would be greatly appreciated:

Tax/Vat/N. I. – i have read that i would have to pay tax twice a year and wouldnt have to register for vat if turnover is less that 61k per annum is this right? Also would i need to pay N. I. if so how would this work?

Payment methods – i cannot find any info regarding this. I would be visiting peoples homes and don’t know how i would proceed with obtaining payments, would i need to issue an invoice then they’d have to pay by cheque? Can anyone advise?
