My friend’s e-machines Vista Home Basic Laptop won’t connect to his ADDON GWAR3000 Router. The other XP Professional PCs and his xBox 360 will connect easily, but his laptop won;t connect with an Ethernet Cable or over wireless. When it comes up as Access to local and Internet, but when he tries to sign in on msn it comes up as an error with key ports, and when he tries to repair the connection, it either comes up with there are no errors, or the laptop is experiencing connectivity problems. What do we do?

under normal mode i ran a full length scan (which took almost an hour) to complete and it came up with two results in the end.

Hotbar – 3 Entries, PUPSC (wtf is PUPSC !!???)

and

Zango – 31 Entries, Adware

when i try to fix these (remove them) it tells me that these entires couldnt be removed or fixed because they were associated with files being used in memory/by memory or wtf i dunno heh

i tried again, this time in safe mode – SAME PROBLEM, tells me theyre associated with some g4y sh1t thats being used in memory lol

now, I ask – what is the best remedy ?

you see this is my sisters laptop – but im trying to fix it and fix it fast as to ensure not another day passes by where she INSISTS i get off MY COMPUTER so SHE can use it !

shes already messing up my feckin computer heh so rather than end up with a pc that resembles HER failed laptop, repairing/fixing hers is of paramount concern.

I think that every switching on now and then isn’t that good for Laptops
(PC’s ass well) and Turning on takes few more minutes, and it its such a hard work for the hardware to load the operating system.
Isn’t standby saving the parts for longer?
I’m Concerned as the laptop is harder and more expensive to repair.

I’ve spoken to an expert (i am almost one) and i’ve been arguing about that. When Standby I believe the battery is supporting only the memory which is extremely low battery consumption compared to the hard drive. And I should say that the hardhrive is off during standby (am i right)? I’m talking about a stand by that is something like hibernating, not just the screen off.
I dont agree with mister X’ words:

i followed the troubleshooter within the Tech Guys manual for the computer, after switching it off and holding the on button for 10 secs, the bloody thing has come up with a bios password. The screen switches on, goes to boot windows then comes up with a bios password request.

Spoke to the tech guys who said i have to take it to PC world cos its out of warranty, but in following their guide it enabled the password request and is gona cost me £200 to repair!!! surely somethings wrong in this system?!

any help or advice on how to crack the Phoenix bios password on an Advent 7211?
how long would this take a professional to do? start to finish?

Ok, here’s the thing:
I was playing a game on my laptop and one of my keys snapped right off. I tried to glue it back together with super glue (what a stupid idea. . ) but I guess it got even worse because the springy thing on the key broke off?! But the thing is, when I press where the label key has come off, it still types but you can feel that it’s very fragile and like a small button thing. .

1) What shall I do now?

2) There’s insurance on this laptop (Got it from PC World) but will they fix it despite the fact I tried to fix it myself using glue?! (I mean, like the fact that even though it was damaged we tried to mess with it. . . )

3) If we sent it off to repair, how long would it be there for approximately?

PLEASE help I’m really desperate. . . =S
Please could people at least try and answer ALL of the questions at the bottom?
Why wouldn’t they do it for free because we’re paying each month in case of damage??
Any ideas of how much it would be , seeing as you people are saying they’d refuse to do it for free?

So basically my internet wont work on my laptop.
Im using Internet Explorer 7 with Windows XP.
All I keep getting when I load it is ‘Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage’
And on the status bar is this ‘res://ieframe. dll/dnserror. htm’
But also shortly after this happening my wireless wont connect to my router, I click to repair and it never gets past ‘Renewing your IP address’
All this began with me getting a virus on my laptop and I ended up rebooting my laptop but now this is happening.
Also, the pc that the router is connected to, the internet isnt working but my Moms laptop is.
Please help me solve this big mess

My laptop is broken. the hard drive is bust, i have tried it with a usb adapter on my pc but i think one of the heads has broke.

So i just bought a HP Pavilon DV7 laptop (last week), and it works fines, but whenever im using windows media centre or occasionally when im playing a game, the screen will freeze and the speakers will make a buzzing noise for about 3-5 seconds, one time when it did this the whole laptop crashed and windows did some sort of restore/repair when i restarted the machine. Ive had my laptop for about 9 months, the other day a friend said its good to reboot every 6 months or so and offered to do it for me. . . he said he was updating the ‘bios’ from the toshiba website when suddenly the screen cut out. . .
