i have recently formatted my dell inspiron notebook n installed a fresh copy of win XP which is the official copy i have on my desktop pc. i have used this copy of windows for a number of diff installs but this time its asking for a password at the welcome screen. i have tried everything, repairing installation, ctrl alt del, control userpasswords2, changing the way users logon, deleting accounts, and creating new ones, but i’m still locked out and getting the same message to contact system admin, which was me and has been disabled. i d/l a copy of ERD commander which got me onto the desktop but when i tried again without the disc, booting from the hdd installation that it had just removed the password from (using locksmith), i was locked out again. now i have a laptop i cant get into, despite trying everything i can think of. and my drive isnt registering my official copy of xp since i ran my burnt ERD , so i cant even reinstall a fresh copy of xp. anyone have any ideas of what to do?

Hiya, I have recently been given a HP Pavilion 7915 which only has a 20Gb hard drive and 128Mb RAM. I am planning on upgrading this at a later date yet that is nothing to do with the problem at hand. The Hard drive had a 2Gb EISA drive (i think that is how it’s spelt), then a 15Gb BOOT (XP) drive and finally a 2Gb FAT drive. From my past experience with EISA on Vista machines, they can usually be removed with no troubles. This is the first that actually stopped booting because of it. Using Norton Partition Magic I deleted the EISA and FAT partitions and expanded the main BOOT drive to fill the empty space. Now as I said, the machine refuses to boot into ANY disk that I give it. The XP disk asks to press any key to boot: Nothing happens when pressedThe Vista disk boots and loads the windows files but gives me an error about inserting the repair disk (ITS BOOTING OFF IT!). . . lolKalyway 10. 5. 2 (SSE1/SSE2) disk loads all preliminary setting and then gives me a lecture about not being able to boot into Darwin/x86iATKOS v1. 0ir2 refuses to BOOT and v4i does the same. I am now thinking about the BOOT boundaries that are prone to XP. . . (the 1024mb – 2048mb i think it is) and that MAY be the entire reason that the EISA configuration’ was there in the first place. The next thing I will try is inserting the HDD into my main PC and attempting to place an empty space back at the start, yet I really wanted either MAC OS X 10. 5 or at the least Vista on their as XP is not a good modern seller to most common households. Any help or feedback will be helpful. . . any ideas please =P. . . I’m running low on ideas. Thanks in advance, Ian. To the person that said about delete during BOOT. Firstly, BIOS is F1 at BOOT on this PC. Secondly, when you said BOOT. . . you think that someone that has a 3. 8Ghz intel core 2 extreme processor installed himself, 4Gb RAM, installed himself and multiboots XP, Vista MAC OS X 10. 5. 4 and Red hat LINUX distro may have tried that. . . Sorry for the rant but im annoyed with this machine now and I DID say i had booted into the vista disk until it moaned at me about the bootloader settings. ANY Comments welcomed yet please try to read the details, I know its long but its annoying for me and I cannot add the IDE drive to my PC yet as I am on my laptop and my main PC is not here right now.

I want to have a rolling news section on front page and want it to be edit-able from a text input box elsewhere (doesn’t matter if I host it on the site or not) – basically like a mini blog window on my front page. Is this possible? Someone suggested a wiki, but I can’t seem to find a reference. The reason for this is so I can have other non-technical users update the news without accidentally deleting or ruining any of the other front page content.

so I’m 18yrs of age and would like to get into computer repair. (Hardware & Software). I am very computer trained and have built many computer system from scratch. I would like to be going round in a vehicle travelling to different customers fixing and resolving problems with their pc’s. I need to know what path or first step to take to make that big jump from education to employment.
Please help as this is frustrating me and wasting so much time as I’m unable to find that jump.

I have an iPod classic 6th Gen.
I’ve tried reformatting it a number of times, i’ve tried using alternatives to itunes (my ipod freezes all of them), i’ve tried it on different computers (both PC and Mac) and it does the same thing on all of them.
Also, when i run iPod diagnostics, it doesn’t have the option to scan the HD, which apparently it should have.
Any ideas? or do i need a repair?

Ok guys, this is henry again, I was having the keyboard failure problem earlier, I got good suggestions here I have tried most of them, open up the pc, reseat all the ram, nic and all that. I have now plugged in a usb keyboard, well now I can boot from the cd, but when i choose option 2 (R) to repair, the following comes on the screen “the recovery console provides system repair and recovery functi. onality.

This is a quick example of how I changed my iPhones Sim into a Micro-Sim that I could use in my iPad. In this video I ordered a free iPad Sim from O2 (UK) and used that as a template. The link is freesim.o2.co.uk but most networks will give them free, just check there websites. The Micro-Sim I received from O2 comes in a pre-cut full sized Sim template, so you can then use this to reconvert your micro-sim back to a full size Sim using a bit of sellotape. You can then interchange it between your iPhone and iPad. Alternatively I’ve ordered an actual adapter from microsim-shop.com as I don’t fancy using tape every time, and this cost about £5. If you try this, take your time, it’s better to cut off less than more. However I do not accept any responsibility if you encounter problems or cut too much off or cut in the incorrect place and your sim does not work. To make the iPad see the iPhone Sim you need to put a legitimate Micro-Sim in iPad and sync up to iTunes. If you’re going to be using O2 I suggest and O2 sim.
