For months I have been fighting local and county council in Nottinghamshire over their allowance of a school to breach legislative orders on the corriculumn.
If schools are allowed to say no to legislation then what kind of power does this Minister wield? Is she or he just a mouth piece in parliament or do they believe in the work they do?
A primary school in Mansfield has been allowed to spend money on other things than the ‘SWIMMING lessons’ that children were meant to be given under legislation.
The local council (under RUTH MARLOW) has compounded the issue by being completely discriminatory and backing schemes to allow under 16′s free swimming. – this clearly discriminates as those that can swim shall take advantage- those that can’t swim aren’t really able to take advantage- and why can’t they swim- our minister of education doesn’t give a toss about their own legislation- THIS IS HOW IT SEEMS!
Ruth Marlow of Mansfield District Council agreed with me that free swimming was desciminative when placed in context with the avoidance of legislation by a certain school- she even concurred with my views on the matter.
For this to become the fiasco it is shows our government don’t care enough- IF THEY DID- LEGISLATION WOULD BE ADHERED TO!
As a Minister- you can find out who I am and see all the correspondance I’ve had with Ruth Marlow.
And I’m sorry Joan, but the Audit commision didn’t give two hoots.
I’ll wait for the first drowning and pass details of the people that turned their backs on legislation to their folks.
I totally agree with ‘MECHANIC’ but would still like to see someone taken to task for this escapade as Ruth Marlow of Mansfield District Council seems to be ignoring the fact and pushing on with her discriminatory initiative even though she agreed it was discriminative.
I wonder whether adding her own expenses and doing the books meant she had to have a way of explaining where some funding has gone- she may have already spent some of the money- who knows.
I’d like to know what the law will do to a Council Director – found discriminating- do you think she should be pushed out of her job?
