Might need to get a new and better fan if he cleaned it and put new thermal compound on it and it is still overheating. Its possible that the new parts you put on are creating too much heat for your stock fan to handle. Edit:probably the ram
Try reducing the limit of processes your computer is using, that will cool it down a bit. I recommend buying a laptop fan or cooler. They are sold at most common stores. (Target, Walmart. . etc. . ). If all else fails, keep the platform that you put your computer on cool.
Well, the overheating is caused by to much CPU resources. Try to change the power settings, see if you can reduce the cpu speed somewhere.
Other than that, you will get others commenting that “it’s an Acer”, and leave it at that. . .
Heat or bad drivers is the main cause of laptop shutdown. Check the drivers too. . . especially the video card. Try running the video at a lower resolution. . . Adding ram and a larger disk drive will also add heat to the laptop’s internals. Try a smaller (original) disk drive in the laptop, and use an external, powered, USB disk for extra storage. . . .
Then again, it is an Acer. . . . (sorry. . . )
the fan needs to be replaced!
Its not blowing enough due to too much wear (this is a common problem), overtime if you dont clean the exhaust outlets dust builds up in the exhaust fins so the fan is working twice as hard and this makes the fan wear prematurely.
You could undervolt the processor, if nothing else helps. Worked really well for me:http://forum. notebookreview. com/hardware-components-aftermarket-upgrades/235824-undervolting-guide. htmlIn addition, I’d be taking it back to the guy that did the work.
put some ice on it =B
Are you running windows or linux operating system. The linux operating system has bugs with the temperature sensors control and cause the computer to shutdown do to overheating. Also, Acer had a bug in its BIOS which cases the sensors not to respond properly causing the machine to over heat and shut down. They corrected this problem with BIOS V1. 34. When they installed your upgrades did they update the BIOS as well? These are some basic things you should check.
HI.
I have a 5315 that i upgraded the MAX ram you should have is 2gb in the form of two matched 1gb
Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot. *

*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.
any more is above both Acers recommendations and critual the memory experts.
I personally have never had problems.
