Yeah, this was pretty fucking classy on Letterman’s part. Letterman has said and done some stupid shit (I like Letterman more than say Leno, but not as much as Stewart and Stromboulopoulos). Definitely earned Letterman a great deal of respect in my eyes.

This was the kindest thing Letterman EVER did. This was so wonderful. Warren’s memory will always be kept in my heart. I just love him and his music.

Thanks for posting this. I was a Warren Zevon fan starting with his eponymous 1976 album but missed this.

Great interview, but PLEASE synch up the audio with the video!

remembering a wild show at the LA roxy. people making out under the table, everyone drinking way too much. warren breaking a piano string at one point. and, at the end, an actual, legitimate extra encore, after the house lights had been turned on. people stomping for more, warren coming out nearly in tears for one more. we’ll keep him in our hearts for more than awhile.

Tactical error, dry cleaning, don’t be fooled by cosmetics, they don’t discourage you from doing what you want, if Dr. Stan can’t fix it, enjoy every sandwich, Daves the best friend my music has ever had. . . . . . All words spoken by a man who was so near death at the time, he didn’t look at it as a death sentence, but as a part of life and he lived it out to the fullest. WOW, now theres something we can all learn.

“Well, I guess you better get your dry cleaning done on special. “

great artist, his music is all class, it will never die.

I had the privilege of seeing him at least 5 times, at a little club called The Chance in Poughkeepsie, NY. And 1 time at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park. , N. J.
I also watched this when it originally aired. It made me cry, and I still miss him.
RIP Warren

@heitmanek1 can’t start it like a car can’t stop it with a gun

<3 the awkward silence

That is probably what he meant when he wrote that

Lawyers gun and money

warren zevon is greatness no doubt

Send Lawyers, Guns, and Money
The shit has hit the fan
RIP Warren.

Zevon was a genius. His music lives on. It’s great to see this whole show– thanks for posting it. This is why Letterman was/is/always will be so much more important than Leno could dream of being– he knows and loves artists like Warren Zevon. Now Leno’s beating Dave in the ratings? That just proves the world’s full of idiots. Pretty sure we already knew that, yeah? Rock on, Dave. Have a sweet sleep, Warren.

I’ve only recently discovered Warren Zebon through the work of another late great Dr. Hunter S Thompson, and man,he could really deliver a fine song! RIP Warren & RIP Hunter. The world is less fun & interesting without you both.

Enjoy every sandwich R. I. P Warren Z

@kabint great show, one of the first i can truly appreciate!

R. I. P Warren. It’s hard not to cry every time i hear “Keep me in Your Heart” after hearing your story.
