I think wheel clampers should be shot as they are nothing but cheating freeloading bullies. I’ve never been clamped but would take the side of anyone who was clamped.
It would depend entirely on who they were working for and what they negotiated as pay, and under what conditions. Keep in mind some shop owners would patrol their own private lots and might pay someone to take care of those who park without permission.
But generally cars should be towed, not clamped. I mean stop and think, the whole idea of parking restrictions is to leave spaces for your customers. If you clamp rather than tow, the space remains not available for the next customer.
