I’m just wondering precisely how they disguise IP addresses. . ??
So is there no way to get around a proxy to find out where the person is actually based. . . ?

They do work, and roughly as follows. Instead of connecting directly to a website for example, when using a proxy server your request for a page is sent to your proxy server which then requests the page from the website on your behalf. The website sends the page back to your proxy server which then passes it back on to you.
As a result the website doesn’t see your IP address, just that of the proxy server you are using, which is acting as an intermediary.
I could be wrong, but I’ve been led to believe they’re basically servers that your server connects to, and uses the proxy’s IP instead of your own.
I’m assuming they just don’t keep records of what IP connects to which proxy. . . if they did that it wouldn’t be very anonymous. . .
Anyway, that’s what I was told.
Proxy servers work by acting as an intermediary between you and the websites you are trying to visit. You tell the proxy server the website you want to visit, and then the proxy server actually goes out and downloads all the webpage’s information. The proxy server then transmits all that information back to your computer. The end result is that you see the webpage you were trying to visit, but the only place you actually visited on the internet was the proxy server.
Example: You want to visit www. yahoo. com. You are using a proxy server, say www. proxy. com. The server at www. proxy. com is the only computer that actually visits www. yahoo. com – your computer only connects to www. proxy. com and displays the information the proxy server downloaded from www. yahoo. com.
Yes it works. . . . . . . . . . proxy server use to route ur request to the internet on his behalf and get back the result you. Simple like a middle man between u and internet.
Proxy servers is a way for hiding your IP address and using a universal IP address, it can also be used to scrape through web filters as well.
Most will work, but be careful, as most free ones will show ads unless you disable them or pay to use. Also be weary of Spyware
