I have BT Total Broadband and I and my son use laptops so both connect wireless to BT Broaband via a home hub. I have no problems with speed but my son who was in the same room as me at the same time has a slower download speed. We both went to the same website to test the speed and mine was treble the speed of his. Can BT cap individual computers on a wireless netowrk?

No that is not possible. The only two possibilities are the exact distances between the computer and router or the speed of the wireless Receiver on each computer. For example wireless cards in laptops tend to be faster than USB dongles on a desktop system
definitely they will be a decrement in bandwidth. call your ISP they will help you.
No they cannot do that, the most likely cause is the computer being too far for wireless to work at a decent speed.
There are several possabilities for this problem. Clearly the issue relates to your sons computer:
- The wireless card in his laptop could be slower than yours
- He could be running some software that will distort the results of the speed checker (this could be anything that connects to the internet, browsers, chat programs, viruses etc. Anything like this will use bandwidth and distort the speed test results)
